Old photo, new post...
I have been looking into getting back to Guatemala in the next year or possibly going to Mexico city for a photo workshop I heard about yesterday. I shot this photo last summer in Chichicastenango's market. I really miss Guatemala and the trips through the country.

The Move...
Well I just landed in Seattle, now I'm looking for an apartment and some photo work. Shot these over the past three days as I drove up from El Paso. The drive was long, but I had fun and it gave me a chance to think about many things.
I am very excited to be here and looking forward to life in the north west.

Leaving Soon...
I'll be heading to Seattle for good in four days. I am both happy and sad. I feel kind of guilty about leaving my parents here with out me, but I know they will be ok when I'm gone.
So with that said I have been spending as much time as I can with them. Tonight my mom was cleaning Pinto beans so I shot that and chatted with her. she explained how important cleaning beans was when she was a kid. It was like family time for her and her mother.

Ride Along
I took a ride along with the photographer for El Paso Inc., they wanted to try me out see if they liked my work. I really want to shoot for them, I miss having photo gigs consistently. I also went and shot an assignment for Ep restaurant in the mall. As I left the mall I was stopped by mall security and asked why I was taking photos in the mall. I guess their was some miss communication between the restaurant and the rest of the mall. Anyway shot this last night at a gallery reception for the artist Tom Lea. This is trumpeter Jesus Rodriguez, him and a bass player entertained guest at this opening at the Adair Margo Gallery Thursday night.

The End is NEAR...
So the season of graduation is starting up, along with my graduation coming up next week there are many high schools getting ready to unleash their kids upon the world. I shot a portrait of one of these kids, She is my best friends sister. After I shot a few of her I figured I would take a few of my "brother from another mother." I am toying with the idea of covering my own graduation, from the seat and shoes of a grad.

Music soothes the savage beast...namely me.
I am not sure if other Universities have procrastination days or weeks, but NMSU does. It's a time when you are supposed to blow off finals/term papers and just relax. I never seem to really enjoy this excuse to blow off school. This year being my last year in college and being giving an assignment to shoot it, I took the time to sit back and listen to the band that our Student Union's program council invited to play.Their name is PBM or Poor Boy Music, they had this ska type feel to them. They are a pretty good band and listening to them for about an hour really did help my stress level, anyway this is Tom Torrento he is the trumpeter and back up vocals for the band.
After shooting this assignment I drove back to El Paso, Tx which is my new base of operations for the next few months. I moved out of my apartment in Las Cruces this past weekend, I am pretty excited about this little move if all goes right it will lead to some good shooting gigs. Then in August with what money I have I make a big move to Seattle to regain something that has been missing for about a year.

T - minus 5,4,3...
Met up with the News Editor of the Bulletin at about 4:15 am Saturday. We drove out to Hatch, climbed aboard buses and were taken to the viewing area of Spaceport America. A rocket was being launched that morning with the remains of Star Trek star James Doohan and Apollo 7 astronaut Gordon Cooper, along with a few other remains. The rocket launched and reached its pre-orbital destination before falling back to earth and landing at White Sands Missile Range. It was one of the more interesting assignments I have had lately.

Take Back the Night...
Tuesday the wellness, alcohol, violence and education program or WAVE hosted the third annual "Take back the Night" rally here at New Mexico State University . "Take back the Night" was started in the 1970's in England when women wanted to protest against the fear that women felt walking in the streets at night. They had a pretty good turn out for the rally . It is always good to see communities come together to bring awareness to problems that concern everyone.
In this first photo, Perla Subi marches down University Avenue during the rally while other demonstrators chanted, "No sex without consent."

A week of silhouettes...
one last trip photo...
Drove back to Las Cruces this morning, which was fine except my cough that I had last week came back and is now keeping me from sleeping. I was sorting through my photos before I archive and saw this one shot from Sea-tac...
For those of you who haven't been to Sea-tac this is really the first thing you see once you pass the TSA check.
