I'm still trying to figure out how significant others of photographers put up with us constantly shooting photos of them.

Last day in DC...

My last day in DC, a women jumped off the tracks at the Smithsonian metro stop. She was between 50- 60 years old. Luckily she survived and was taking to the hospital. As EMS put her on the ambulance she was talking and seemed to be pretty coherent. Fire crews had to lift the car she was stuck under up off the tracks. At the time the authorities were unsure if she had fallen or jumped. Later they found that she had in fact jumped.

A major problem that is going to grow...

Poverty is only getting worse. After I shot this photo yesterday I tried to talk to this man, but he just rolled over and went back to sleep. Seeing this and taking the photo just pushes me to focus more of my work on the issue of poverty and homelessness.

A Break from Studying and editing for EAW '08...

This is Alana (I hope I spelled her name right). She is a great dog and a very quiet housemate. I am staying in Silver Springs at some friends house for the next few days. I've been reading a Work flow manual that I brought home from work for a few hours. I'm feeling like I've absorbed some useful info.

First week as an Intern...

The past week has been pretty good. The only reason I say that is because my back went out on me early in the week and I was walking around slow and in pain for much of the week. I am learning a lot from John about the business of freelancing. I know I will be of more use once my back gets into gear. These are the two little items that allowed me to get to work everyday. ThermaCare heat wraps and Ibuprofen.


After being on a heating pad all morning I needed a break. I think I was starting to cook, so I went for a walk. where I found these two gentlemen.

Photographer meets Lucy...

This is Lucy, she is one of the orangutans at the National Zoo. She sat in this window for a long while. I really think we are the ones being watched at the zoo, I mean can you see all the wisdom in her eyes? I can.

Tomorrow I start my internship, I'm excited! Wish me luck.

Crowded Streets and everywhere else...

With the Cherry Blossom Festival and it being a Saturday the Mall was drowning in people. Every monument, museum and food court was packed. I started to get a little claustrophobic.

Looking around...

Spent my first two days getting lost on the Metro and hanging out in Silver Springs. Today I moved into my new home for the next few months. I'm living on Capitol Hill only .8miles to the National Mall. So After I moved my stuff in to my room I headed down to the Mall. I only had an hour before the Smithsonian museums were going to close so I wandered around the American Indian Museum. I really enjoyed it, in fact tomorrow I might head back and look around more.

I am not sure how much free time I am going to have after my Internship starts on Tuesday so I figured I would fit in as much sight seeing as I could this weekend.
