Beach Bumming...

After shooting Port Isabel High's football practice I drove over the cosway and hunted down some art on the Island. Sometimes being the awkward looking guy with cameras helps get good photos.

New Air Wing...

Went flying with some MMA summer campers who are getting some flight training. I was nervous but man I had a great time.

Revisiting Hurricane Dolly much of the Tio Cano Lake region of Willacy county is still recovering from the storm a year later. Many House remain empty after being flooded forcing their owners to leave.

More Fun with the G10

So in the tradition of the Olympus XA 2 camera which I have read many photographers would load with b&w film and keep it in their pocket, I decided to put my G10 into Black and White mode and shoot with it for a few days. I'm really digging this camera, now it will never replace my big guns, but it has its uses. On to the photos...

Testing out my new toy...

I bought a canon g10 this past week and ended up testing it on some night fishing, I think she held her own.

A man sits out side the Harlingen Public Library Wednesday as condensation forms on the windows of the building due to the sudden shift in temperature and the recent rain fall in the area.

Alfonso Ruiz with J.J. Castillo Palm and Tree Trimming climbs to the top of a palm to trim down the leaves in the Valle Vista Mall parking lot. Ruiz has been with Castillo's trimming for 2 years. A crew from Castillo's can trim between 30 - 40 palms a day. The reason the palms are trimmed is to keep them clean and free of pests. Along with that it opens up the spaces around businesses allowing more people to see the storefronts from the road.

Alfonso Ruiz dons his tree climbing equipment in the Valle Vista Mall parking lot, before climbing to the top of a palm tree to trim back the leaves to help protect the trees from pest and help businesses draw more customers to their stores. Ruiz works with J.J. Castillo Palm and Tree Trimming he has been there for 2 years working across the valley.

During a tour of the solar array at the San Benito Water treatment plant, Jose Luis Ibarra head of the of the Energy Savings and Electrical Department of the state of Chihuahua writes down numbers from a solar panel. Which he used to calculate the potential amount of energy that can be pulled from the panels.
