one last trip photo...

Drove back to Las Cruces this morning, which was fine except my cough that I had last week came back and is now keeping me from sleeping. I was sorting through my photos before I archive and saw this one shot from Sea-tac...

For those of you who haven't been to Sea-tac this is really the first thing you see once you pass the TSA check.

Rough couple of weeks

The past couple of weeks have been a test of endurance for me and the two photographers I work with. We covered the WAC tournament last week, shot every game. Just a quick post with a few photos from that and a wild art shot.

Softer the ball the faster the pitch...

This past weekend was pretty busy, I was all over the place. Friday which yes isn't really the weekend , but no matter I was shooting a story at the local boys and girls club. The club is in danger of closing down because of funding problems.(left) Alyssia Smith hangs out at the boys and girls club of Las Cruces Friday afternoon.

Saturday I shot sports all day, started out with tennis and equestrian moved to softball and baseball. At the equestrian event I had some problems with my gear and missed a shot. This rider took a bad dive off her horse. The horse just didn't want to make his 2nd to last jump. (below) The Aggie softball team raises their hands in the Pistol Pete hand signal to celebrate a good inning .

Sunday I headed for a bike show which was fun. Bikers always make me laugh, most of them are pretty friendly people. After that I headed to the office for production night. So all and all I had a good weekend, a very busy weekend but pretty cool. (below) As the bike show opens its doors Sunday a Gregory Segura checks out this 97 Heritage Softail Harley Davidson.

This week will hopefully be pretty busy, if now Ill just have to self assign stuff and go make some photos. I have been toying with the idea of getting my two other photographers here at the round up and shooting a project for the website, since we have the space to make some pretty nice multimedia photo essay type stuff. Ok well I'm off to shoot some baseball, should be a good game it's our Universities rival match NMSU Vs. UNM.

3,2,1 Blast off...

This week has been a pretty busy week at the Round up, Gov. Richardson came into town to discuss a few things concerning the state not to mention his presidential bid for the 2008 elections. These photos were shot in and around Vista middle school Monday afternoon, the main focus for this rally was the new spaceport that is going to be build outside of Las Cruces. The main point Richardson made was that New Mexican should support a new tax increase to help pay for the spaceport.

Down the street from Vista Mitch Boyer stood with others who were protesting the proposed tax increase. The protesters felt that this tax increase should be used to support local community needs. One example they gave was the funding of volunteer fire fighting units that could use more money for equipment and other items.

As I was getting out of my truck this morning, I noticed all these construction workers starting their day. After I shot a few frames, they started whistling at me, kind of strange, but funny none the less.

Tyrone Nelson greets fans as they congratulate him for his part in the win against the Nevada Wolf Pack.

The Aggies are having a great season, its really good to see at least one of our teams here at state win. The football team had a really bad season. It was amazing to feel the crowd Saturday night, they were making the Pan Am rock.

Back to work

Ruth Mendoza an education major waits in line at Dona Ana Community College registars office Tuesday afternoon. With school starting Thursday students are preparing for school and trying to work out their schedules.

Shot this today on my first day back to work on the school paper. Kind of a stressful day since I didn't think there would be any photo requests in today. Guess you should never assume anything huh?

Pro-life, pro-choice protest

Jonathan Jefferson holds up a sign in protest of the pro-life demonstration that was put up on campus Monday morning. The pro-life group Justice for All was asked by Aggies for Life to come and display their exhibit showing fetuses after abortions along with possible post- abortion health risks for women. Jefferson was the only pro-choice protester Monday, but was joined by members of the National Abortion Rights Action League on Tuesday.

Out for the Season

Chris Hutchinson former running back for the Mayfield high school Trojans, who is now a defensive back injured his leg and is out for the 2006 season. The team had high hopes that Hutchinson would be one of the top players this season. With his injury he is still on the team and after observing him he seems to keep the other players going. I shot this while Hutchinson was talking to another injured teammate.
